3-Day SUP Adventure around Diaporos Island, Greece

Treat yourself to a three-day SUP adventure around Diaporos Island, Greece, with clear emerald water, time to get active and small sandy beaches where you can slow down. This trip combines paddleboarding with two nights of camping near Vourvourou and visits to beautiful beaches that can only be reached from the water.

You do not need previous stand-up paddleboarding experience. The programme welcomes complete beginners, with an instructor, an introductory briefing and the necessary equipment included. Your paddling takes place in the sheltered bay around the island.

Diaporos and the sheltered waters near Vourvourou

Diaporos Island lies in the quiet bay of Vourvourou, on Greece’s Sithonia peninsula. Its sheltered setting offers particularly good conditions for people who are new to SUP. The area is described as remaining protected from waves even in strong winds, although the trip is still weather-dependent.

Here, an active break also gives you room to unwind. Paddle through clear water, stop at small sandy beaches and take time to enjoy the sea. Some of the beaches on the itinerary are accessible only by water.

Day one: from Sofia to your first paddle

The trip leaves from Vasil Levski Stadium in Sofia at 7:30 am. The journey takes approximately six hours, including rest stops, with arrival at Rea campsite in Vourvourou in the early afternoon.

Once you have settled in and unloaded the equipment, you receive your briefing. A short SUP outing then introduces you to the clear emerald water and the feeling of travelling by board and paddle. In the evening, the plan is to enjoy a meal at the campsite’s taverna. Food and drinks are paid for separately.

Day two: paddle to the island’s beaches

After breakfast, spend the day enjoying an active break on your SUP board. Paddling is broken up with stops at beautiful Diaporos beaches that can only be reached by water, giving you time both to move and to relax on the shore.

There is room in the day for photographs and cold drinks, too. Towards evening, the group chooses somewhere for dinner according to everyone’s preferences. Drinks and dinner are not included.

Day three: beach time before heading home

After breakfast and coffee, you have free time for the beach. Then pack up at an unhurried pace before setting off for Sofia by around noon at the latest.

What is included

• Two nights in a tent at Rea campsite in Vourvourou.
• A tent and sleeping mat if you do not have your own, plus camping equipment.
• A SUP instructor.
• SUP equipment: a board, paddle, life jacket, safety leash and a dry bag for your personal belongings.
• Transport and road tolls.
• Travel insurance.

Food, drinks and personal expenses are not included. This also applies to the breakfasts, coffee and evening meals mentioned in the itinerary.

Who can take part and group size

This is a three-day group experience, and you will join other participants you may not know. The trip requires at least 4 people to go ahead, with a maximum group size of 8.

Complete beginners are welcome. Children aged 12 and over can take part, and anyone under 18 must be accompanied.

Season, dates and advance arrangements

The programme runs on selected dates from April to October. The date listed in the 2026 schedule is 26–28 June. A group of at least 4 people may request different dates, to be arranged with the organiser.

Participation must be requested at least 72 hours before the start. Your place and date are arranged separately; buying a voucher does not confirm a booking for a particular departure.

What to pack

• Swimwear and/or quick-drying sportswear for paddleboarding.
• A beach towel.
• Water shoes or sports sandals if you prefer not to be barefoot in the water and on the board.
• Sunglasses, a hat and sunscreen.
• A waterproof phone case if you want to take photographs on the water.
• Mosquito repellent.

Weather and cancellation conditions

The trip depends on suitable weather. The itinerary may change with the conditions, and the programme may be cancelled if the weather is unsuitable.

The organiser’s stated cancellation condition allows free cancellation up to 744 hours, or 31 days, before the booked start time.
