Boat Scuba Diving near Sozopol at St Ivan Island with Photos and Video

Boat scuba diving near Sozolpol takes you beyond the shoreline for a different view of the sea. This adventure brings you to St Ivan Island, where you will dive with scuba equipment and an instructor to a depth of around 5–6 metres. If you enjoy a thrill and feel confident around water, this summer experience is a chance to step outside your comfort zone and enter a world of fish, crabs and seahorses.

You do not need previous diving experience or a diving certificate. Preparation is part of the experience, while the included photos and video give you something to look back on once you are on dry land again.

From the meeting point in Sozopol to the waters around St Ivan Island

Allow approximately 3 hours for the full experience. This covers choosing and preparing your diving equipment, the briefing, transfers to the dive site, one scuba dive and the return to shore. You will spend 40 minutes underwater, with a separate 30-minute briefing on land.

After getting ready, you travel to the dive site by minibus and speedboat. You enter the water from the boat to explore the underwater surroundings of the island. There is one instructor for every two customers, providing instructor support for those trying scuba diving for the first time.

What the experience includes

Who can take part and important restrictions

This dive is intended for people who are not afraid of water, including complete beginners. The organiser lists a minimum age of 16 and also describes the activity as being for participants over 16. For anyone under 18, a parent or legal guardian must be present at the diving centre to complete the required paperwork before the dive.

You must be in good physical and mental health. The organiser lists the following contraindications and restrictions:

• Ear or eardrum problems.
• Inflamed sinuses or a runny nose.
• High blood pressure.
• Being overweight, which the organiser identifies as making the dive dangerous.

At the centre, participants sign its liability release and acknowledgement of diving risks, in accordance with the international standards cited by the diving centre.

Season, timing and advance arrangements

Dives are organised daily from the beginning of May to the end of September, subject to suitable weather conditions. A reservation must be made at least 5 days, or 120 hours, before the intended activity.

The experience takes place in the morning, with a meeting point in Sozopol at 9:00 am. Call the instructor on the supplied contact number two or three days before your reserved date to check whether the forecast and sea conditions are suitable.

What to bring and how to receive your photos

• Do not consume alcohol or other intoxicating substances during the 24 hours before the dive.
• Bring swimwear, flip-flops and a towel.
• If you have long hair, be ready to tie it back.
• Ask the instructor on the day how your photos and video will be shared with you.

You receive the photos and video from the instructor on the day of the dive. The delivery method is arranged directly with them at the dive site.

An Adventico voucher and the organiser’s cancellation condition

Choose an Adventico voucher for yourself or give someone an underwater adventure near Sozopol. The voucher is for the experience, not an automatically confirmed date and time: participation requires an advance reservation and remains dependent on the weather.

The organiser’s source offer states that cancellation is free up to 48 hours before the reserved time. This is a supplier-specific condition and should not automatically be treated as a general term applying to all Adventico vouchers.
