A Terrarium Workshop in Sofia lets you create a small tropical garden in glass. At the Trendafilous Terrariums studio, you spend around one and a half to two hours working with plants, natural materials and your own ideas. Choose a package for one or two and leave with a completed closed terrarium to keep.

A terrarium is more than a decorative container for a plant. You build a miniature ecosystem that continues to grow and develop after the session. At home or in the office, it offers a small natural feature and a reminder of the elements you personally selected and arranged.
The workshop takes place in Bulgaria's first dedicated closed-terrarium studio, a welcoming space focused on these living compositions. An experienced maker guides the arrangement and shows you how the plants and materials work together. No previous experience is needed: tools, materials and professional guidance are provided.
What goes into your terrarium?
Your composition takes shape in a glass container with a cork stopper, measuring 25 cm high and 17 cm in diameter. The materials include:
- a miniature bonsai and selected tropical plants;
- natural forest moss;
- specialist substrate;
- decorative stones and other elements.
You take part in arranging the details and shaping the composition. The finished terrarium is therefore not simply an object you have chosen: it reflects the decisions and hands-on work that went into making it.
How does a closed garden live?
The natural water cycle inside the closed container helps create its own microclimate. This is what makes terrariums relatively easy to maintain. You receive practical care advice at the end, so you know how to look after the plants and enjoy the arrangement with minimal effort.
The idea dates back to the nineteenth century, when glass gardens transported rare tropical plants from distant continents to European homes. The workshop lets you explore that principle on a personal scale by building your own miniature tropical world.
Unhurried creativity in a small group
Groups are limited to seven participants to allow individual attention. Mineral water and an optional glass of wine accompany the creative process. Come on your own, with a friend or with your partner; the session suits both beginners and people who already enjoy plants.
