Spend two full days on the Danube between Nikopol and Svishtov with an experienced guide. Expect island stops, a visit to a rock church, and a night in tents on Persin Island. A great choice if you want an active route, a campfire on the beach, and sunrise coffee by the river. Difficulty 4/5.

How the adventure unfolds

Day 1 – meet in Svishtov, launch from Nikopol: At 09:00 you meet the group at Svishtov port, leave your car at a guarded parking lot, and take an organized minibus transfer to Nikopol. After a short briefing from your guide, you gear up and hit the water around noon. First stop: the rock church of St. Stefan, carved into the limestone right by the river. As you paddle, you pass scenic Danube islands such as Gradina, Lakut, Palets, and the Big and Small Katunar. There’s a lunch and beach break on one of the islands. By evening you reach Persin Island (Persina Nature Park) and set up camp on the island’s tip.

Day 2 – channels and finish in Svishtov: Breakfast and coffee outdoors, strike camp and back on the water. The route weaves through misty channels and river branches. You stop for a beach break on Milka Island, a green habitat for herons and cormorants. In the late afternoon you finish below the town port in Svishtov. If you want to round off the day with local flavors, the nearby fish restaurant “Pametnitsite” is known for excellent fish soup and grilled catfish.
