Kayak the Danube and Yantra near Vardim: two islands and a scenic route
Spend a full day on the water linking the Danube and Yantra near Vardim. Follow a defined route through the channel between the Small and Great Vardim islands, pause on the tiny “Sandokan” islet, then paddle upriver on the Yantra to the cliffs by Belyanovo. A return transfer back to Vardim is arranged and paid on site.
How your day unfolds
After a short safety briefing and boat allocation, you set off with the current on the Danube. The route threads the scenic channel that divides Vardim Island into Small and Great Vardim. About an hour and a half in, there’s a well-earned break on a small islet locals call Sandokan — time for a sandwich, coffee or tea, and photos.
The second leg is on the Yantra: paddling against the current toward the cliffs near the village of Belyanovo. Expect changing scenery with photogenic meanders and viewpoints. The tour ends at Belyanovo, where an organized transfer takes you back to Vardim (paid on site).
