Japanese cooking course in Sofia – hands-on techniques for your home kitchen

This Japanese cooking course in Sofia introduces you to a culinary tradition in which flavour, aesthetics and harmony belong together. In Part 1, Chef Nemigenchev guides you through foundational techniques and recipes you can bring into your everyday cooking, broadening your culinary repertoire through practical work.

Japanese cuisine as an art

Japan is known as the Land of the Rising Sun, with a cultural identity also associated with diplomacy, discipline and traditions stretching back thousands of years. That heritage shapes its approach to food as much as its customs. Japanese cuisine combines culinary appeal with minimalism, precision and a thoughtful approach to presentation.

From tempura to delicate desserts, its dishes express respect for ingredients and an appreciation of subtle flavour. Each dish is carefully composed to create balance and harmony. Part 1 introduces you to this way of thinking through the core techniques and recipes that form the foundations of Japanese cooking, helping you explore new possibilities in your own kitchen.

Cook actively rather than simply watch

This is not a demonstration-only class. Every participant takes an active role in preparing the dishes and carries out tasks set by the chef. The format recreates a real working environment, with its pace and particular demands, so you take part in the cooking process rather than watch from the sidelines.

The advertised duration is 4 hours, but the actual running time depends on the participants’ pace and the course may continue beyond that. It is recommended for people with an interest in cooking who are ready to follow the chef’s assigned tasks throughout the session.

Taste the dishes once the cooking is complete

At the end, you taste the dishes prepared during the course. An alcoholic drink is served only after the dishes are finished and the tasting has begun. No alcoholic drinks are served during the cooking itself, supporting full concentration and a safe working environment.
