The itinerary from Borovets to Musala and back

• At 8:00 am, the group meets in the car park of the Borovets gondola lift and takes the lift towards Yastrebets.
• Between 9:20 and 9:40 am, there is a short briefing. You put on your snowshoes and begin the approximately two-hour trek towards Aleko Peak.
• At 11:45 am, snowshoes are replaced with harnesses and crampons, and trekking poles give way to ice axes. The technical section begins with a traverse over Aleko and Bezimenen towards Musala.
• Arrival at Musala is planned for between 1:15 and 1:30 pm. There is a break on the summit for lunch, photographs and time to enjoy the panorama.
• Between 2:15 and 2:20 pm, the descent begins, passing the Ledeno Ezero shelter and Musala Hut before following the Musala trail to Borovets. The descent takes around four hours from the summit.

You must contact the instructor three days before your reserved date, using the telephone number supplied during the arrangements. The instructor will give you directions and detailed information about the ascent.

Every participant must have mountain insurance covering the day of the activity. According to the organiser, this can be purchased at an insurance branch and costs approximately BGN 5. This is an indicative additional expense, not an included service.

The gondola lift is used in the uphill direction only, and each participant pays for their ticket on site. The organiser gives an approximate one-way fare of BGN 40 per person. The return to Borovets is on foot along the route described above.

The activity is weather-dependent. The organiser states a general season from 16 January to the end of March, with departures on selected scheduled dates. The published list contains 11 January 2026, 8 February 2026, 22 February 2026, 15 March 2026 and 5 April 2026.
