Two-Day Kayaking on the Iskar River and Selected Reservoirs

Two-day kayaking on the Iskar River and selected reservoirs is a gift of time outdoors: paddle in hand, calm water ahead and an evening at camp. This Group I experience is for one participant joining an organised group, with two days of guided paddling, breaks by the water and an overnight camp.

Give someone close to you a water-based adventure, or choose your own escape from everyday routines. Travelling by kayak brings together a sense of freedom and the quiet of the natural surroundings. No special level of fitness or swimming ability is required to take part.

Routes and places to explore

The organiser's general description names Topolnitsa, Iskar, Sopot, Gorni Dabnik and Ogosta reservoirs, as well as stretches of the Iskar River near Kunino and Karlukovo. The actual choice is tied to scheduled dates and routes; it does not mean that any location can be chosen for any date.

The published 2026 programme also includes Pchelina Reservoir and a combined itinerary at Topolnitsa and Dushantsi reservoirs. Iskar and Ognyanovo reservoirs are listed as possible additions to the programme, rather than trips with confirmed dates.

Day one: getting to know your kayak

Once the group has gathered, you receive your equipment and take part in a detailed briefing. This provides the basic knowledge and confidence you need for the journey ahead.

Launching involves wading into knee-deep water to get into the kayaks, so choose clothing and footwear with getting wet in mind. After around one or two hours of paddling, the group picks an island or a small bay for a shore break. There is time to eat some of the food you have brought, rest and take in the natural surroundings.

You then head back onto the water. When the group has had enough paddling for the day, you return to the starting point.

An evening by the water and a night at camp

Back at the starting point, you set up camp and settle in for a well-earned rest. The evening offers time to share stories, impressions of the route and the day's memorable moments with the other participants.

Day two: back on the water

After waking up and having breakfast, the group packs away the camp and distributes the equipment needed for the day. Then it is back onto the water for another day with a kayak and paddle: a continuation of the adventure, not just a brief addition to the first day.

What is included

  • A two-day kayaking experience for one person in a group with other participants whom you may not know.
  • A two-person kayak, paddle, spray deck, dry bags and life jacket.
  • A route guide and an on-site briefing.
  • Camping equipment for participants without their own: a tent, sleeping bag and sleeping mat, available only by prior request.

The spray deck is the cover fitted around the kayak's cockpit opening. The kayak seats two people, while the participation described here is for one person.

What to bring and arrange beforehand

  • Food and drinking water for the trip.
  • Spare clothes and footwear suitable for getting wet.
  • Sunscreen, sunglasses and a sun hat.
  • A windproof jacket.

Contact the organiser's team one or two days before your booked date using the telephone number provided for coordination. Confirm the meeting point, meeting time and any remaining details. If you do not have your own camping equipment, request the tent, sleeping bag and sleeping mat in advance by phone.

The source requires participants to bring a printed fiscal receipt supplied with the provider's documents in order to be admitted. This requirement belongs to the provider's own process; when arranging a visit with an Adventico voucher, confirm which document you need to present. No receipt is attached to this description.
