What to expect: Five-Course Asian Dinner for Two at MIZU Sofia

Five-course Asian dinner for two in Sofia

Set aside an evening for Asian flavours presented with imagination and attention to detail. At MIZU Sofia, Korean chef Chef Lee has created a five-course menu for two that brings together Japanese precision, Korean character and the wider richness of Asian cooking. Traditional recipes take on a contemporary expression, while familiar ingredients reveal different possibilities.

The menu has its own rhythm. Fresh, delicate flavours lead towards richer dishes; crisp textures meet softness; and the final course balances sweetness with a subtle savoury note. Each of the five dishes contributes a distinct character to the shared experience, inviting you to explore beyond your usual order.

A fresh opening with Yuzu salmon roll

The first course is Yuzu salmon roll: four pieces combining salmon, Philadelphia cream cheese, avocado and spring onion. A panko coating with purple potato adds crunch to the soft, creamy centre. Freshness and richness meet in each bite, with contrasting textures giving the opening its balance.

Korean character and a choice of flavours

Next comes Yuk Hoe, a spicy Korean-style beef tenderloin tartare served with a crisp rice cracker. The tenderness of the beef contrasts with the delicate crunch of its base. This distinctive dish introduces a different side of Korean cooking and gives the menu a more expressive texture.

K-Chicken then lets you choose the flavour you prefer. The Korean fried chicken is available as Yang-Nyeom Chicken with sweet chilli, Gan-Jang Chicken with a soy-and-honey glaze, or the fiery Bul-Dak Chicken, also called Volcano. Each version brings a different mood, from sweet heat to aromatic sweetness or a bolder level of spice.

Gyoza and dim sum to share

The next course gathers several Asian traditions in a varied selection: kimchi mandu, BBQ mandu, vegetable gyoza, chicken gyoza and shrimp dim sum. The traditional Japanese dumplings and their companions offer different fillings, aromas and textures within a single shared course.

Delicate wrappers give way to rich fillings and characteristic seasonings. This is a chance to explore the balance between subtle textures and fuller flavours, and to discover which combinations you each enjoy. Portions throughout the menu are shared between the two diners.

Pear tart with miso caramel

The final course is a fine buttery tart with caramelised pears, miso caramel and a crisp base. The fruit's sweetness meets a delicate savoury note, adding depth and balance. This contemporary sweet-and-savoury combination provides an elegant finish that reaches beyond the more familiar dessert pairings.

An occasion to discover something different

Across five courses, the menu moves through fresh and delicate notes, richer and spicier accents, and an unexpected dessert. At MIZU Sofia, respect for culinary tradition sits alongside a willingness to experiment with contemporary ideas. Careful combinations show how different food cultures can complement and inspire one another.

Choose the experience as a gift for someone close to you, to celebrate a special occasion or simply to step away from your everyday rhythm. Sharing good food gives you time for conversation and a chance to discover new favourites together. The meal lasts around two to three hours and requires an advance reservation, available Monday to Sunday between 12:00 and 22:00.

A voucher for this menu offers an encounter with Asian cooking in which bold flavours, unexpected pairings and refined details each leave their mark. From the fresh opening to the final sweet-and-savoury note, every course adds another dimension to the evening.
