The journey to the cave is part of the experience. As you walk across the Devetashko Plateau, look out for wildflowers, herbs and the karst formations that shape the landscape.

Hares, pheasants, roe deer and hedgehogs live in the area. You may spot one along the route, although a wildlife sighting is not a guaranteed part of the walk.

Inside Futyova Cave

Underground, the scenery changes. Formations along the walls and ceilings give way to narrow tunnels and spacious galleries, offering plenty to interest anyone with a spirit of discovery.

Depending on the season, you may also see the bats that inhabit the cave. Their presence during any particular visit cannot be promised.

The walk to the cave and the exploration inside take approximately two and a half hours in total. It is possible to cover part of the route by car, reducing the time needed.

Planning your stay

Check-in is after 3:00 pm on your arrival day, and check-out is by 11:00 am on your departure day.

Preparing for the cave visit

Long trousers and closed-toe footwear suitable for walking are strongly recommended for the cave visit. You can also bring your own torch if you wish, although head torches are included in the equipment provided.
