Henna or jagua – what’s the difference?

Both are plant-based dyes, but each has its own character and longevity:

• Henna: made from ground, dried leaves of Lawsonia inermis. Leaves a brown–reddish tone and typically lasts about 10 days.
• Jagua: a natural dye from the fruit of Genipapo Americana. Darkens differently for everyone and develops a dark indigo-blue to nearly black tone. Usual longevity is around 15–20 days.

• Indian (mehndi): fine, lace-like patterns made of delicate lines and dots.
