Description

Two-Day Hike to Kozya Stena Peak and Eho Hut

A two-day hike to Kozya Stena Peak and Eho Hut takes you along one of the most striking ridges in the Central Balkan Mountains. In the Lovech region, this sharply defined peak combines sweeping views with an accessible route that still delivers a genuine sense of exposure. The airy ridge invites comparison with Koncheto in the Pirin Mountains, bringing a little adrenaline alongside scenery that stays with you long after the walk.

Give yourself two days away from everyday routines, or choose an Adventico voucher for someone who loves spending time among mountain peaks. This experience brings together walking, a shared adventure and a night in a mountain hut, rather than fitting the whole journey into a single day.

Two days on the ridge with a small group

The trip lasts two days, with approximately 4–6 hours of walking each day. You join a group of other participants whom you may not know beforehand. Group size is limited to 8 people, allowing for individual attention, safer progress and an enjoyable shared experience. At least 4 participants must be registered for a departure to go ahead.

The route is classified as suitable for beginners, but you still need a good level of physical fitness. The exposed ridge and sense of height are central to the experience, so this trip is not suitable for people with a fear of heights or musculoskeletal conditions.

Day one: Beklemeto – Kozya Stena Peak – Eho Hut

Meet at Beklemeto at 09:00. You travel to the meeting point in your own car and leave it there. The group then follows the ridge towards Kozya Stena Peak. The ascent opens up expansive mountain views and gives you time to appreciate the character of this sharp, panoramic summit.

After the summit, the route leads to Kozya Stena Hut for a meal break. You then continue towards nearby Eho Hut. Along the way, the views towards Vezhen Peak reveal the scale of the Balkan Mountains, and the route also crosses Ushite Peak.

Once the group reaches Eho Hut, there is an optional additional ascent on the slopes of Yumruka Peak for anyone who would like to continue and has enough energy left. You spend the night at Eho Hut.

Day two: Eho Hut – Kozya Stena Peak – Beklemeto

If you would like to watch the mountain wake up, you can rise before the sun and enjoy the sunrise. This early start is optional. After breakfast, the group sets off at an unhurried pace along the ridge, following the return route from Eho Hut through the Kozya Stena area to Beklemeto.

The walk ends where you left your cars. You head home pleasantly tired after two days on foot, with new views to remember and the sense of space that time in the mountains can leave behind.
