Chilli farm tour with dinner in Strashimirovo near Varna

Awaken your senses on a chilli farm tour with dinner near Varna: a three-hour experience at Hotfarm that brings together greenhouse visits, live demonstrations and tastings before a home-cooked evening meal. Each part of the visit reveals a different side of spicy food, and you do not need to enjoy intense heat to appreciate it.

A different kind of outing in Strashimirovo

For a change from the usual places to visit around Varna, head to the village of Strashimirovo. Just 14 kilometres from the city and close to Lake Varna, it is home to Bulgaria’s first chilli farm. Here, Hotfarm introduces you to a lesser-known world through a themed visit connecting the plants, the production process and the food on your plate.

It is an option for friends, visitors to the area and families with participants aged 14 or over who are looking for an authentic experience beyond the familiar sights. The tour takes place in a group with other guests you may not know, offering a chance to meet new people along the way.

A welcome drink and your first tastes

Your visit opens with a refreshing welcome drink and time to get to know the other participants. A selection of homemade bites then introduces your senses gently to the flavours that run through the tour and dinner.

The selection includes bruschetta, banitsa pastry, a platter of dips, cheeses and spicy preserves, as well as peppers stuffed with bacon. These combinations show how chilli can play a subtle supporting role or bring a more pronounced character to a dish.

Explore more than 70 chilli varieties

A walk through the greenhouses takes you on a journey around the world of chillies, with more than 70 varieties ranging from familiar peppers to exotic, rare and exceptionally hot examples. You see how the plants are grown and hear about the origins and distinctive characteristics of the different varieties.

Learn how seeds are selected, which conditions the plants need and what happens between a young plant’s early growth and the finished product reaching the shelf. The visit also includes the production rooms where Hotfarm products are prepared and packaged. Live demonstrations and an insight into the farm’s work reveal how traditional methods are combined with modern technology.

Tastings for curious newcomers and chilli enthusiasts

The tasting introduces a range of products made on site. Flavours move from gently spiced preserves and dips suited to everyday meals to sauces with a stronger kick and a more assertive character.

Balanced flavours and natural ingredients mean that even people who do not usually choose spicy food can find something they enjoy. If you like a challenge, there is also a special selection of the farm’s hottest products. Small surprise gifts add another element to the visit.

A home-cooked dinner and the farm’s signature dessert

Dinner is home-cooked, with balanced flavours and spicy touches designed to suit guests who are more sensitive to heat as well. You can therefore enjoy the experience even if spicy food is not normally your preference and you simply want to try something different.

The meal ends with the farm’s signature dessert, created as a cooling finish to the spicy flavours. You also receive a complimentary treat from the hosts and a certificate marking your completion of the chilli tour. The setting provides opportunities for photographs and memories throughout the visit.
