Day one: from the boat landing to your island camp

Meet at 10:00 am at the boat landing in the village of Vardim. After a short briefing, participants are assigned to mixed crews combining beginners with more experienced paddlers. Then it is time to head out onto the river.

The first stretch involves around an hour of paddling upstream, described by the organiser as manageable and invigorating. You then land at the tip of Vardim Island, where the pace changes and camp life begins.

Hammocks and tents go up, firewood is gathered, and the water offers a chance to cool off. Everyone prepares their own dinner using the supplies they have brought. The evening unfolds around the fire, where even a simple meal becomes part of the experience, before you spend the night in a tent with leaves rustling overhead.

Day two: a sandbar, an island channel and Beaver Island

The morning starts with breakfast and tea or coffee. Once your bags are packed, you return to the kayaks, this time heading downstream on the Danube.

The first stop is a long sandbar in the middle of the river. Clear water, fine clean sand and wild surroundings make this a place to enjoy the beach away from everyday noise. There is time to appreciate this stretch of the journey before the group continues downstream.

You then pass through the channel dividing the island into Great Vardim and Little Vardim. The route also includes a short break on Beaver Island, another spot for beach time and photographs. The final stretch brings you back to the boat landing in Vardim, where the trip began the previous day.

• Mosquito repellent and swimwear.
• Warm clothes for the evening.

• Your identity documents.
• Any medication you take.

Dates and planning conditions

These two-day trips take place on specific dates during the year. The published 2026 schedule lists 25–26 July and 15–16 August. These dates belong to the schedule for that year and do not confirm an upcoming departure or available places.

Groups of more than three people may enquire about arranging a different date. Booking requires at least 24 hours' notice before the start. Under the activity provider's stated condition, cancellation is free up to 48 hours before the scheduled start.
