Three rare coffees with distinct personalities

The tasting at RITZ introduces you to three distinctive coffees, each with its own story and flavour profile. Together, they offer a journey from smooth chocolate and caramel notes to bright citrus and complex fruit and floral flavours.

• Kopi Luwak — celebrated for its unusual processing method. Natural fermentation in the digestive system of the Asian palm civet gives this coffee its characteristic smoothness, low acidity and rich chocolate and caramel notes. Discover the exotic character of one of the best-known luxury coffees.
• Jamaica Blue Mountain — often called the “champagne of coffee”. Grown in Jamaica's Blue Mountains, it benefits from a distinctive microclimate that contributes to its delicate balance, gentle acidity and fresh citrus notes. Taste the subtle character that makes this rare coffee so prized.
• Kopi Kan or Drima Zede from the Ninety Plus Coffee 90+ collection — the third coffee will be one of these two selections from the prestigious collection. Scoring above 90 points under SCA standards, it offers a complex flavour profile with fruit, floral, chocolate and subtle spice notes.

Filter and espresso: two expressions of each coffee

To explore more of what these coffees have to offer, you will taste them prepared in two different ways. The demonstration shows you how they are made, while the tasting lets you compare the results in the cup.

• Filter coffee — aromas and layers of flavour unfold gradually, allowing you to follow the individual notes.
• Espresso — a more intense flavour profile and a rich texture reveal a different side of the same coffee.

Learn to recognise the differences in your cup

During the tasting, you will learn why these coffees rank among the world's most highly valued and what gives them their distinctive qualities. Discover how origin and processing affect flavour, and why different brewing methods bring different nuances to the foreground.

You will receive an individual tasting sheet to assess aroma, balance, sweetness and acidity. It gives you a way to organise your impressions and approach each cup as a professional coffee taster would.

• Location: RITZ, Sofia.
• Duration: 60 minutes.
• Minimum age: 18.
• Format: a group experience with other participants you may not know. A voucher for two does not make this a private tasting.
• Schedule: by advance reservation, Monday to Thursday, between 14:00 and 22:00.
• Booking requests must be made at least 72 hours in advance.
• The organiser's stated cancellation policy allows free cancellation up to 48 hours before the reserved time.
